The atmosphere of holiness

We will not follow Jesus if we do not experience silence in our days, as the way to join God, in the secret. Silence is the atmosphere of holiness. No doubt, the Master has commanded us to be his witnesses; but if we lacked inner life, we would not witness in favor of the Gospel. Sometimes we confuse apostolate and propaganda, and under the pretext of confessing our faith, we engage in bitter controversies, which rarely ever persuade.

  No seguirem a Jesús si no comencem per posar silenci als nostres dies, per tal d'unir-nos a Déu, en el secret. El silenci és l'atmòsfera de la santedat. Sense dubte, el Mestre ens ha ordenat de ser testimonis seus; però si ens manqués vida interior, no testimoniariem a favor de l'Evangeli. A vegades es confon apostolat amb propaganda, i amb el pretext de confessar la fe, hi ha qui s'abandona a polèmiques agres, que rarament mai persuadeixen.
